I am an Associate Senior Instructional Professor and the Faculty Director of Analytic Degrees at the University of Chicago Harris School of Public Policy. I teach econometrics and data science classes in the traditional Master of Public Policy (MPP), Evening Master’s Program (EMP), and Master of Science in Climate and Energy Policy (MSCEP) degree programs.  My research interests are in applied microeconomics, primarily the fields of public, environmental, urban, and labor economics.  I also have work related to health and sports economics topics.

After majoring in economics and English at Clemson University, I started my career as a research associate doing antitrust analysis for an economic consulting firm in Washington, DC.  I then earned my Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Virginia.  Prior to working at Harris Public Policy, I was an Assistant Professor at Florida State University and a Senior Research Associate in the Kenneth C. Griffin Department of Economics at UChicago.  I live in Hyde Park with my wife, Susan; our sons; and our dog, Boomer.
